Fire at Sydney International Aquatic Centre

Sunday 13 October 2013

So there I was, minding my own business, when I started hearing loud popping sounds from outside. It was windy, so I figured something was blowing around outside.

Then I went to the other room and saw black smoke billowing from Sydney International Aquatic Centre. It turns out that a small bush fire started near some parked cars, and the way that unfolded is fairly self explanatory. The popping I was hearing was probably tyres exploding.

Sydney Morning Herald reports that about 40 cars have been destroyed, but nobody’s been injured. I’m not linking to them because they got the suburb wrong, and the suburb they did choose to write about was spelt incorrectly. (Sydney Olympic Park is officially now a suburb, and before that it was Homebush, not “Homebuish” as SMH would have us believe)

Bill Bailey via Twitter:

Oz, have you elected a climate-change denying halfwit, cos I said you can’t have a world leader called Kevin? I am truly sorry.

Double-width stroller

Sunday 1 September 2013

When I come to power, anyone found using a double-width stroller in public will be forced to watch reruns of Midsomer Murders for the rest of time.

I hate people that do the “ooh look at how much fun I’m having” thing but… I’m currently sipping orange juice at the top of the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere. Look how much fun I’m having!
